In the midst of 2015/16, the world watched the Presidential Election Cycle unfold via social media.
Social Media powerhouse & TV celebrity Donald J. Trump anchored himself online through Twitter & Facebook, building a 'news' outlet of his own, empowering him to speak directly to potential voters.
He & his team's ability to reach millions upon millions of voters pushed Trump to the forefront of the media, both traditionally with news TV, Radio & print as well as coverage by the full spectrum of blogs, online news sources, social media platforms & beyond.

In December of 2016, after reaching out to local State Senator Matt McCoy, we scheduled time for discussion, investigation & consultation. During this initial discovery period, we quickly learned that the powers of social media were under utilized regarding the Senator. His already vast 'personal' brand on Facebook was upwards of 4-5K strong, but his official public figure accounts were simply mirrored, limiting the reach, engagement & overall value of the platform.
After a few hours of discussion regarding connectivity, functions & content, our meeting came to an end. We then put together a strategy to increase reach, engagement & viewership of Senator McCoy's social media presence. With the initial intel in hand from our first meeting, as well as a vast about of data collected from following the 2016 presidential election, we made set our goals.
The Rule of Thirds | Cliff Notes
Red Shoe Media launched in 2011 as a local outfit for content creation, social media management & design. We worked tirelessly the first year to grow our client base & to increase our clients' followings. During this year, we learned many techniques regarding content research, creation & deployment. None more important than the Rule of Thirds.
1st Third: Post content directly related to the brand/organization.
2nd Third: Post content related to the industry of the brand/organization.
3rd Third: Post content related to the community the brand/organization serves.
By following these standards set out internally, we tracked vast growth with our clients across Facebook, Twitter & other social media mediums.
Implementing Rule of Thirds | Senator McCoy
Over the course of the first 2 weeks representing Senator McCoy on Facebook alone, we saw increases on his reach & engagement upwards of +1,000%. This increase saw our deployed content reaching 400K PLUS Iowans versus 400 per post. This was all based off of content, timing & the rule of thirds. We had not even utilized the Facebook Advertising portals at this time. (My rule is to always see increase in reach BEFORE pushing it with money)
